All topicsQuestions people ask
Can Vietnamese citizens buy property abroad?
Many countries allow foreign buyers, on very different terms: Australia requires approval and currently bars established homes, Canada bans purchases in major urban areas for now, Thailand only allows condo units. See the table in our country guide.
Does buying a home abroad let me settle there?
Usually not. Residency is governed by immigration law, separate from owning a home. In Japan, for instance, buying property brings no visa. Ask an immigration lawyer before trusting any "buy a home, get residency" pitch.
How do I send money abroad to buy?
Individuals in Vietnam must send foreign currency abroad through a bank and for a purpose the law allows. Ask your bank which documents it needs before you pay any deposit. Some countries, such as Thailand, also require the purchase money to arrive from abroad in foreign currency.
Where can foreigners own land outright?
Japan has no nationality limit on buying land. The US has no federal ban on foreign buyers, though some states have their own rules. Thailand does not let foreigners own land. See buying a condo in Thailand.
